What is the Docent program?

Over the course of the school year, volunteer parent docents present "Art History" units in their student(s) classrooms, grades 1-5. The units consist of a ready-made, easy to follow PowerPoint presentation, followed by a short, prepared hands-on activity for the class. 

You do not need to have a background in art history! 

All materials are supplied and each unit is "presented" to the docents at training meetings over the course of the year. Units include: Introduction to Art, Impressionism, Asian Art, Sculpture, O'Keefe, Van Gogh, Picasso, American Art, Escher, Architecture, and Egyptian Art.

It is a fun and easy way to spend time in the classroom and the kids really enjoy it!

Please consider volunteering for the docent program. We especially need volunteers for 3rd and 4th grade.
